Bus Day

Miles today: ~2 on foot and 7 by bus

I’ve been really tired in the mornings the last 2 days for some reason. So after some napping I finally got my shit together and headed out. I didn’t have the car again on Sunday so I decided today I was going to try taking the bus. It was pretty easy! Google Maps had the stops accurate within 10 ft and kept track of where I was on the route so it was easy to tell when I needed to request a stop.

I took the bus to a second bookstore and found some more cool stuff and had a nice chat with an employee about my getting books by local authors when I travel. I’m going to have to mail some home for sure. No free tote with purchase this time tho.

It was raining off and on and I lucked out, it only rained when I was indoors and did not get my books wet. A lot of places were closed on Sunday and I couldn’t find any open cafes nearby to hang out at. I went to SALT in Kaka’ako and walked around to look at the street art and check out the shops, many of which were closed so I might come back later this week. I found a cafe and got an iced hibiscus tea and read for a bit.

Jaron got done early today but Julie got stuck in traffic on the bus. Apparently he got pulled over this morning on his way to the worksite after passing someone clogging up the passing lane that turned out to be an unmarked police car. He got a talking to but no formal warning from a guy in an odd uniform. He was a little confused by the interaction and went to look up the HPD uniforms and thinks he was pulled over by the Honolulu Chief of Police.

We did our evening walkabout after dinner (Chinese) and got some greek yogurt froyo. They had ube! Our total was $36 for froyo for both of us, so it was good that we had a cheaper dinner tonight.
