Anniversary Laundry

Miles today: 1.1

Thursday was laundry and R&R day. I was relieved to find self-serve guest laundry onsite since a hotel this nice might only have the kind of laundry service where they charge you per piece. Not only was I not going to pay that, but there was no way I can explain all of my laundry nuances to another person and had resigned myself to taking a rolling duffel offsite to do laundry in town. The laundry room was not advertised as an amenity and I only happened to find it while looking for an ice machine on a random other floor. There was no one in it then, but this morning it was packed and kind of an aggressive situation to be honest. Hot, too. So I was glad to be done with that chore. Jaron said that his anniversary gift is my doing his laundry.

Today is our 22nd anniversary. We met when we were 21 and eloped when we were 22. At 44 we’ve now reached the inflection point where we’ve been together for longer than not. I still have no idea how this happened and don’t know what I’m doing. No special plans since Jaron is working but we’ll probably do something later next week when he’s off.

After laundry I went out to find an acai bowl. Reading a book in public really is seen as an invitation for conversation, which happened both while waiting for laundry and then again while waiting for my order. I didn’t mind, though. I had a nice convo with another +1 while waiting on laundry and then got a book recommendation from a food truck vendor. But, I don’t understand interrupting someone who is clearly focused on something.

I went back to the room to do some ppwk and uninterrupted reading on our balcony until Jaron got back. We went for dinner at the first restaurant we went to on Sunday and then of course gelato.
