Sleeping & Suburbia

Miles today: 3.6

After more shenanigans last night we got to bed at 1am and woke up at 0630 like the old farts we are. Tried to sleep a little more and then got bkst at 8. Our table was by the window overlooking a beautiful garden and aimimg the sun RIGHT in our eyes. I mean, I wasn’t hungover, but the overwhelming brightness made me second guess whether I was after all. Then we closed the blackout curtains again and got 2 more hours of sleep. You know how it goes.

Jaron had work stuff to do at noon so Julie took care of some errands and walked to a bookstore in suburbia that specialized in Hawaiian authors. And she cleaned up. Like…free tote with purchase cleaned up. The bookstore cashier was surprised to hear that Julie was a tourist, so they must not get much tourist traffic here in suburbia, just 2.3 miles from the hotel. Then Julie parked at this beautiful cafe and had an iced hibiscus tea while sampling my recent conquests.

Look at that rich color on my iced hibiscus tea!

We had dinner with our friends from home at a restaurant recommended by a gym friend. Forgot to take pictures, but I had crudo and meatballs and Jaron had venison ragu. Julie will do some more research to find more restaurants tmrw.

After dinner, Julie met up with an Aussie woman motorcyclist to exchange WRWR batons. The 2026 WRWR went digital to connect every woman rider in a more inclusive manner than who happened to be available on a specific day & location the in-person relay Amy I did in 2019. It’s become a super cool way to meet women riders when and wherever you travel, whatever your mode of transport may be.

Michelle from Perth!
My first international baton pass!

Then back to the room to wash off all of the sunscreen and crash.
