Jaron was able to extend our stay at the corporate hotel by only 1 night due to a football game in this college town. It was nice to have a kitchenette, not that Julie ate much. Jaron went to the grocery store for bananas and microwaveable meals. I did some more laundry the next night, too. And we hunkered down.
We figure Jaron got covid first because he was super warm on Friday night, so much so that Julie had to move to the other bed. Julie had body aches and chills Monday night, and Tuesday was puke day when we tested positive, but her sinuses were feeling tender starting Sunday night. Jaron said his “allergies” started on Wednesday, and that Friday was his worst day, but that he was feeling a lot better by Tuesday. In truth, we WERE also dealing with allergies and altitude adjustments. But Friday was after 3 nights in a row of camping and a lot of isolation, so maybe he got it at the airport? I know it doesn’t matter, but it’d still be nice to know.
We checked out against our will on Wednesday and headed to the Oregon coast where we could hibernate some more and have a nice view. Jaron found us such a place in Bandon. (Does that mean “with”?) Jaron chose it because it was near some named rocks, and Julie loves rocks. 🥰 You might be asking yourself, what are named rocks? Well, they are rocks on google maps that have names.
We got there at 2:00 and they let us check in early, and Julie immediately took a nap. Jaron put all of our covid survival drugs in the basket containing coffee supplies (“the cornucopia”). It had a pick-up breakfast and even came equipped with a biohazard bag. So – perfect for covid convalescence.
That evening, Julie got out of bed, got dressed, and went out to get something from the car — All By Herself. 🏆 When she got back, she said let’s go for that walk. Bring it on, Bandon! (I did literally say that.)
The next day, Julie was feeling much better and we went to see the named rocks.
The seagulls were pretty bold.
Watching the spray was particularly satisfying for some reason.
We sat in a few different spots watching the waves crash against the rocks for hours. It was hypnotic, similar to watching a campfire.
No covid selfies, and Jaron was your photographer today. We walked back up the 130 steps to our car, tho Julie needed a break at step 76.
We got shepherd’s pie from an Irish place for takeout dinner.
After two quiet evenings in our seaside retreat, we were ready to hit the road again.
