Outbound

We had a pretty good travel day, except for not having time to really eat lunch at the airport due to long lines everywhere. We both have TSA precheck, which was handy since Jaron was wearing his huge ass off-road riding boots. They didn’t have bins at that line, but we both insisted we get ones for our helmets. Weird.

We are giving Uber a lot of business today. Our uber driver on the way to the airport talked the entirr 30 min about shaving his head and the benefits of being bald. Social, romantic, etc. He was hilarious.

That was the bumpiest plane ride I’ve been on in a while. I’m not sure if the pilot ever turned the seat belt sign off. It got super bumpy over the mountains, which I guess is normal according to the people around us.

I will be really happy when we load all of our stuff on the bikes and I don’t have to carry it around anymore. My 100L duffel weighed in at 39#. But it’s floppy and that makes it hard to carry. Jaron had 60L + 20L bags since he packed some clothes on his bike before shipping it.

We got a hotel recommendation and Jaron called to see about the government rate so we could pay half of the posted price.

Then we ventured out for some New Mexican food. We are happy to be back in the land of legitimately spicy food! Those portion sizes tho.

Jaron noticed that the family members we location share with on google are all over the country. Daddy is at home in WV, Jenny & Phillip are in Florida, and we’re here.

Being in Albuquerque is bringing back a lot of good memories. I traveled here once a quarter for like 4 years for my first job, and then I interned here during grad school in 2010. It was the best summer.

Jaron noted that we don’t have to wear our helmets here. The motorcycle seat guy gave me this whole speech about how everyone should take responsibility for their own life — because helmet laws take that away. Riiiight.

Side note: When I was living here, I was on my way home one day on my Honda Rebel (stereotypical chick/starter bike), and a guy on a Harley rolls up next to me at the light. I was wearing my bright green full face helmet, gloves, boots, and a jacket w/ hi viz, with a pink yoga mat on the back. He was rockin’ flip flops, short sleeves, no gloves, and of course, no helmet. I got the nod and we went our separate ways.

Currently handling a food coma, and are about to crash early.

Tomorrow we have a breakfast date with a cousin of Pat’s and then we will go get our bikes.
